VISION

Be the leading international organization of business and professional women united through volunteer efforts to enable women and girls to live their dreams, take control of their lives, and live according to their own values.

 

MISSION

To improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.

STRATEGIC OUTCOMES


1.  Program

Soroptimist programs and initiatives will enable women and girls to achieve social and economic empowerment.

 

2.  Membership

Our Soroptimist club will be a thriving organization of members committed to the mission.

Our club will be known for its efforts to help women and girls achieve social and economic empowerment.

 

4.  Fundraising

Our members will commit to raising sufficient funds to support our local projects, SIA programs and SI projects.

 

5.  Mission Support

Our Soroptimist club will achieve the mission by providing support and a sound infrastructure, and fulfilling our obligations to the region, federation and SI.

 

PROGRAM, Goal#1

Soroptimist programs and initiatives will enable women and girls to achieve social and economic empowerment.

 

Objectives

  • Participate in the Women's Opportunity Awards program.
  • Participate in another federation or local community service project that improves the lives of women and girls, and whose sole beneficiaries are women or girls.
  • Support the 2007-2011 Soroptimist International project (Project Sierra) by contributing through federation headquarters.

Strategies/Tactics

  • Use federation-produced materials to participate in the Women's Opportunity Awards program.
  • Use program resources available on the SIA website to implement another federation program or a local project that improves the lives of women and girls (for example, the Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence, Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women, Soroptimist Club Grants, Soroptimists STOP Trafficking, Violet Richardson Award, Disaster Fund, model program kits or white papers).
  • Research and share information about conditions affective women and girls both globally and locally via the Soroptimist magazine, SIA and Northwestern Region websites, SIA white papers, convention workshops, regional conferences, district and area meetings, and local resources.

 

MEMBERSHIP, Goal #2

Our Soroptimist club will be a thriving organization with members committed to the mission.

 

Objectives

  • Create or enhance an atmosphere that encourages engagement and participation of all club members.
  • Explore new opportunities to accommodate different levels of involvement/interest in membership.

Strategies/Tactics

  • Involve members in playing a role in the Women's Opportunity Awards program.
  • Participate in other federation and local women/girl focused projects.
  • Use the Live Your Dream Campaign as a recruitment and retention approach.
  • Perform a club assessment and measure member satisfaction by surveying current, prospective and former members about club activities.
  • Hold at least one recruitment event annually and follow-up with all leads for potential members.
  • Use federation-produced membership resources available on the SIA website.
  • Offer meaningful leadership and volunteer opportunities to members.
  • Have a club leadership succession plan.
  • Hold a new member orientation and/or assign a mentor.
  • Use social medial to engage members and attract new members.

 

PUBLIC AWARENESS, Goal #3

Our Soroptimist club will be known throughout the community for its efforts to help women and girls achieve social and economic empowerment.

 

Objective

Increase activities to promote awareness of Soroptimist and its mission at the local level.

 

Strategy/Tactics

  • Participate in and publicize the Women's Opportunity Awards program.
  • Participate in and publicize participation in other federation and local women/girl focused projects.
  • Participate in the Live Your Dream (public awareness) Campaign (distrib8ute pins and promotional items, promote art contest, or hold local Live Your Dream event to honor Women's Opportunity and other award recipients).
  • Implement SIA-produced club website templates or update the existing club website to be sure that it is in compliance with federation guidelines.
  • Send news to federation headquarters about mission-based activities/programs for acknowledgement and additional publicity.
  • Use social media (SIA and club-based) to help publicize projects and engage members.
  • Use SIA-produced public awareness resources available from the SIA website (branding information, sample publicity kits, speeches, public service announcements, etc.).
  • Consistently use only the federation Soroptimist log, tagline and mission statement.

 

FUNDRAISING, Goal #4

Our members will commit to raising sufficient funds to support our local projects, SIA programs, and SI projects.

 

Objective

Increase capacity to support local, federation and SI projects.

 

Stragegies/Tactics

  • Conduct at least one fundraising event in the local community.
  • Use federation-produced fundraising tools, available in the fundraising section of the SIA website.
  • Donate at least 10% of fundraising proceeds to SIA'S Club Giving, which supports federation-wide programs (Women's Opportunity Awards, Soroptimist Club Grants, etc.).
  • Fund our club's Women's Opportnity Award in the aount of $2,000.
  • Contribute Founders Pennies of $5.40 for each member when paying dues.
  • Encourage Laurel Society contributions and Laurel Legacy enrollments from individual members.

 

MISSION SUPPORT, Goal#5

Our Soroptimist club will achieve the mission by providing a sound infrastructure, and fulfilling our obligations to the region, federation and SI.

 

Objective

Improve/streamline club administration.

 

Strategies/Tactics

  • Develop a club budget to support he club strategic plan and maintain fiscal responsibility.
  • Remit dues to region and federation in a timely manner.
  • Update rosters, databases to reflect current membership.
  • Ensure that federation has current and correct information within 30 days of inducting a new member or receiving contact changes from a member.
  • Use club email address provided by the federation; check at least once per week.
  • Communicate regularly with club members.
  • Send delegates to region and federation meetings, defraying expenses if feasible.
